Bridging Innovation and Oncology: My Experience at IAOO 2025, Liverpool

Dr.Dushyant Mandlik

Attending IAOO 2025 – the 10th World Conference of the International Academy of Oral Oncology, held in Liverpool, UK, was a truly enriching and inspiring experience. This prestigious global gathering brought together leading minds in oral and head & neck oncology, and I was honoured to contribute to the dialogue with our research at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Head & Neck Oncology.

I had the privilege of presenting our work through both a selected paper presentation and a poster session, sharing insights into how AI and ML can support decision-making and enhance patient care in complex oncologic scenarios. These opportunities not only allowed us to showcase our findings but also to engage with fellow researchers and clinicians from around the world.

Advancing Innovation in Head and Neck Oncology

A special mention and heartfelt thanks to my enthusiastic collaborator, Ms. Jashna Oza. Her passion, persistence, and commitment were instrumental in shaping our study and ensuring its impactful delivery at the conference.

I am also deeply grateful to FHNO (The Foundation for Head and Neck Oncology) for including me in the FHNO Symposia. It was a distinct honour to present on the topic:

“T4b Buccal Mucosa – Need to Relook at the Staging”,

a subject that drew insightful discussions and valuable feedback, particularly from global stalwarts such as Dr. Jatin Shah. Engaging with such pioneers in our field is always a humbling and enlightening experience.

My sincere thanks go to Dr. Richard Shaw and the organizing committee for curating such a world-class event. IAOO 2025 stood out not only for the depth of scientific content but also for fostering an inclusive environment that encouraged the sharing of groundbreaking ideas, the formation of meaningful collaborations, and the exchange of practice-changing evidence.

Among the most valuable takeaways were the one-on-one interactions with global experts, which opened doors to future research avenues and collaborative potential.

As we look ahead, I remain committed to continued learning and collaboration through platforms like IAOO and FHNO. Conferences like these serve as powerful catalysts in pushing the boundaries of innovation and improving outcomes in head and neck oncology.
